M - Exporting final footage into planned format

H.264 also known as MPEG-4 is an industry standard video compression which is one of the most frequently used video formats. I chose to use this format because it provides a high quality video compression while maintaining a low bit rate. This means its ideal for streaming videos over the internet which is the place I will share my video.

M - Issues and risks for the effects

 covered by law:

  • intellectual property
  • copyright
Legal - Anything covered by the law.
Ethical - 'Issues' Not covered by law which may raise string feelings or moral questions in the audience.

Legal Bodies:
  • Ofcom  - Ofcom is the regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries. make sure people get the best from their broadband, home phone and mobile services, as well as keeping an eye on TV and radio.
  • BBFC - The British board of film classification focus on helping children and families choose what's best for them and make sure they choose something appropriate by providing them with guidance.(They put age ratings on films)
  • ASA - Advertising standards authority. They regulate advert content and make sure each advert sticks to the rules and regulations.
Legal:

Obscene publications act - something inappropriate for the general public - nudity, pornography, graphic violence, drug abuse, negative influence on people

It is illegal to publish content that may negatively influence readers
my target audience is mostly males with the addition of women aged 16-30 advertising fighting sports however mostly boxing
I will use language which doesn't encourage fighting in the wrong contexts however language which will educate the audience into the benefits of fighting sports and how to safely and correctly perform them.
Libel law - publishing false statements written about a person or brands reputation that is defamatory this is relevant to magazines because there could be false statements which could be libel
in my magazine I will make sure all my statements are factually correct from legitimate sources and fighting professionals.
Copyright - law that makes sure you gain permission to use or copy another's intellectual property I am going to take my own photos of boxing professionals (models) and sports gear, I have also created my own masthead (Ring Side). An existing brand that would fit with my magazine is (The Ring) & (Boxing) it is similar because they both focus on boxing and cover the latest boxing news and fights, they are similar magazines based of the codes and conventions of a traditional boxing magazine however do not break any of the copyright laws.
laws of contempt - it is illegal to report on a current legal case that is happening in your magazine only could say facts and also request the court proceedings can not give your own opinion can not post anything that is to sensualist about a criminal case ( glamorising criminal activities) this magazine will have a website so this is relevant to publishing online, speeding, dangers driving,

Ethical:

I don't think theres many ethical effects I need to consider other than one possible one which may be that since I'm filming in a few public spaces people may be uncomfortable being on camera. Although I won be focusing on anyone in the background it might capture them by accident. to minimise the chances of upsetting anyone I have ensured of proper permission to film in the locations and will ask verbal permission to anyone in the shot.

Risks:

Lights will be used on set in a few scenes like the interviews to gain better brightness and exposure, therefore I will have to make sure lights are set up at the correct distance and brightness in order to make sure its not a risk to anyone. people could become startled or even damage parts of there eyes if this is not done correctly, I will use a light diffuser in front of my main light to try help disperse light.

Apply planned visual effects to footage

The pictures labelled 1 and 2 are the text I added via the text tool, 'Are footballers heading for trouble' is is the name of my documentary and is a crucial part as it gives insight into what its about. I also added the 'Documentary Created by Louie Stirk' just to act almost like a credit so the audience know I made it. Furthermore the picture labelled 3 is the text properties, I used this to customize the style and size of the text, I changed the font to one called 'Impact' which is large and bold meaning its suitable for the genre and clear for an audience to see, I also added a shadow and underlined it which I felt gave it more depth on the screen whilst also creating more of a 3D look. Number 4 shows the editing I did to a certain clip in the documentary where there is cuts between different clips to create the effect of a casual but informal scene whilst I narrated. The image labelled number 5 shows all my edited audio, the blue audio at the top is the original audio of the videos I used however about 80 percent of it I either enhanced the volume drastically or just completed removed it all together because of reasons such as poor quality or it just wasn't necessary, The green audio seen at the bottom was effects and music I added during editing which are things such as questions for interviews, football noises, narration etc. Number 6 shows the exponential fade audio transition and number 7 shows the constant gain audio transition, both which I used a number of times throughout to either fade music in or out depending on multiple things like scene changes or audio changes. These effects help the documentary to flow better without having sudden jumps between parts and makes it feel more interlinked as a whole. Finally number 8 is the cross dissolve video transition I used which worked in a way similar to number 6 and 7 transitions, meaning I used it to switch between video clips more gradually to create the flow effect. Overall I kept the editing on the more minimalistic side because I wanted my documentary to feel more raw and real, if I had edited it too much I would have lost the originality and atmosphere that you get from a more low budget home made documentary.
